I've driven past it several times since and can now confirm it's actually 3x small drains in a row that have all sunk down significantly. Driving over all 3x damaged my car and I had to wait for rescue services.
Also just an observation, as soon as you cross the border into Brighton and Hove the frequency and severity of potholes reduces greatly. They can't be patching them up quicker so are they using different materials or something? There must be something different as it's a stark contrast. I drive around all of West Sussex for my job and it's treacherous. Some roads are not dissimilar to a third world country's and I'm not exaggerating. In numerous places across the county, you have to swerve to avoid damaging your car and I'm surprised I haven't witnessed/been involved in any accidents in parts.
Something has to change. I understand wear and tear and extreme weather, but as I said Brighton and Hove don't suffer to the same extent and it's always been that way. Do WSCC attempt to save money by using cheaper materials?
