Lane closures have been in place for weeks

Reported via mobile in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 18:03, Thu 5 January 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4092190.

Causing no end of traffic build up, sign says surveys in progress but no-one is ever there apart from a van parked up on the fly over with someone sat in the cab. There was nobody there over Xmas but cones remained, could they not be moved during inactivity?

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us through the Fix My Street website on 5 January with your concerns about the lane closure on the A167. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to advise us of your concerns.

As you’ve correctly identified we’ve been carrying out survey work on the bridge which has identified a structural issue with part of it. As such, the traffic management has been kept in place to move traffic away from the problem area. The south bridge remains safe to use, provided only one lane is trafficked.

We’re working on a design for a repair scheme, which will hopefully be delivered later this year. Further testing and inspection works are being planned in the coming months to support the design process.

Since your report we’ve made some alterations to the traffic management to limit the disruption caused and have removed some of the signage related to survey work.

    Thankyou again for contacting us.

    Kind Regards

    National Highways
