Various potholes all along this road getting worse

Reported via mobile in the Road Defect category anonymously at 19:31, Tuesday 3 January 2023 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

Various potholes all along this road are getting worse - the quick fix/patch over repairs have come lose including the one logged before Christmas. As these are opening back up various debris is now hitting the vehicles as they travel this road, damaging bodywork and creating surface scratches. Road surface is dangerous especially in wet weather and on a sharp hill with bend. Whole road needs properly resurfacing.

  • The temporary pothole repair to which you refer outside of 57 will be carried out again and our contractor has been asked to expedite the permanent repair that was originally raised at this location. There are no plans to resurface Wood Lodge Lane in its entirety at this time; however, any additional road surface wear that meets with LBB investigatory levels will be addressed.

  • Since the problem was pointed out on 3rd January there appears to have been some temporary filling in carried out outside No. 57, but that is only a small part of the problems with the road surface, we live at No 21 and between the beginning of the road and our property I have counted in excess of 40 Potholes and surface damage, this means that every time a van or car speeds down the road the potholes cause the vehicle to bang and crash. I find it hard to believe that our road is not on the list to be resurfaced when only last year the Council decided to resurface Acacia Gardens, around the corner, which is a cul-de-sac and has no traffic other than the owners of 11 houses. Wood Lodge Lane however, due to the red route traffic on the high street has now become a cut through to get between Croydon and Orpington or Addington.

  • Agree with Anon 10th Jan. I walked down the road today and noticed the repair I reported on 3rd Jan had been carried out - and will hopefully last! However, the rest of this road is dangerous. There are several large potholes from number 38 through to number 2, one of which (at crest of hill) is quite large, is in the middle of the road and presents a significant danger to drivers. I am now driving the long way round via the high street through to coney hall and back down Layhams road just to avoid this road surface. It’s a disgrace.

  • Please refer to our previous response dated 4th January. LBB has inspected the section of this highway mentioned above and already raised works to address other areas of surface wear that met with LBB investigatory levels. Areas of surface wear that did not meet with LBB investigatory levels will not be considered for further action at this time.
