Dangerous potholes and mud

Reported via desktop in the Potholes category anonymously at 21:31, Mon 2 January 2023

Sent to Newport Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4078538.

Unacceptable that so many large potholes along Church Lane at the Post office side.. and also debris like branches , twigs and stones and mud along the lane. It has become dangerous to travel along there particularly in winter and on dark nights. the journey to Church or the farm for eggs etc let alone just for the view. Even discourages the holding of any evening church events which effects the adults in the area. Many more people of all ages live in the village use the lane now and use the roads and lane. Adults and children ride bikes and walk dogs, it is really dangerous to negotiate the lane even when it is dry in the summer. Delivery vans and Cars go very slowly but almost stop because of the large potholes for pedestrians also probably damaging the tyres and lower part of the car. Please look seriously at getting the whole resurfaced as a matter of urgency for all in the area.

Updates

  • THIS problem HAS NOT been fixed at all. The Church Lane area has still still been looked at ,, at all yet. The continuing very wet cold weather has meant it has become even worse with large pot holes now even deeper and larger so that driving cars and bikes and buggies always dangerous and an issue as very bumpy. Small children still at risk and falling off bikes and scooters as the Church lane is a very important thoroughfare in Marshfield for walking and exercising dogs and children as well as accessing the houses for both domestic and commercial delivery access for everything. The dangerous state of the road and banks worn away at the edges into the REEN and drainage ditches all the way along makes it hazardous to walk along and is in urgent need of repair as has not been done for well over 25 years ..!!!
