  • For information, the order for this repair remains outstanding within our contractor's planned schedule of work. Further arrangements are currently being undertaken to provide traffic management and/or the necessary specialist equipment in order to undertake the works.

  • A suggestion for Bromley Council: Seeing as these mythical contractors of whom you speak seem reluctant to do any work, maybe you could reapportion some of the £2.5 million you've made from yellow box fines over just the past 12 months, and offer that to them: it might hurry them up a bit? Or use just a tiny fraction of the huge increase in council tax you've imposed on everyone in the borough? You have the means to pay, we know that. So there's clearly an endemic failing within the council in terms of putting the necessary motions in place to get these serious road hazards fixed. In any case, this has all been screen grabbed and will be used as evidence when the inevitable serious accident happens due to Bromley Council's abject dereliction of duty. Such incidents are preventable with the appropriate remedial action; you are consistently failing to take that action. Nobody wants there to be an accident (this is why we keep reporting these issues to you - and being ignored!) - but it's inevitable now, as there are countless hazardous potholes throughout the borough, which are being left to worsen for months and months - and so It's going to be important to have all of the dates and information to hand, to prove negligence on the part of the council when needed. I hope this record of neglect can also be used by motorists to cross-charge the council for any damage to vehicles caused by potholes. I'll be sharing this on the appropriate local forums and social media groups so that it can be used for any claims against the council.

  • Bromley Council, please advise how we can get a specific update on this, rather than just copy-and-paste template responses, which we know are being rolled out as a delaying tactic. Do we need to submit a freedom of information request to find out which contractors you use and what timescales have been discussed / set in place? This has gone on for way too long now and it needs to be escalated: you need to provide some transparency in terms of timescales because residents aren't willing to put up with this any longer.

  • More info here for anyone that wants to follow it up: the council uses JB Riney as a contractor - you can contact them for an update via And if you want to make a formal complaint and / or register your concerns with the council re this pothole and others in the area, you can do so by emailing They have to respond within five days. The more people that contact them, the more chance we have of getting these issues fixed. Sadly, it looks like people power / pressure is the only route left now: the fact we pay millions in council tax on top of all the funding they've been granted from government to fix these issues is having no effect.

  • Thank you for your further comments regarding this issue. Bromley are aware of the significant volume of works raised and outstanding with our contractor and we are continuing to monitor and liaise with them over this outstanding schedule of works. Our Officers are not able to give precise timeframes to individual jobs at this moment but are continuing to undertake regular safety inspections and check any reported issues. We will continue to work with our contractor to ensure that all outstanding jobs are addressed as quickly as they are able.

  • Stop posting these copy/paste responses; we know by now that this isn't going to get repaired. This report is five months old. Five months! You should be really ashamed of yourselves. Just a matter of time now until the council is publicly outed for its failings.
