Mature sycamore opposite house , main trunk split in half

Mature sycamore . Main trunk divided into two about 12feet up main trunk . One major arm has split away from main trunk leaving half the trunk . A huge part of trunk is exposed to the elements and clearly rotten . Very concerned as it is opposite our house and only a few metres away . We will mark the location with a red ribbon or paint .
