Pedestrian Crossing

Reported anonymously at 11:45, Sat 17 January 2009

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 40400.

The pedestrian refuge on Railway Street at the mini-roundabout adjacent to Bluecoat Court is constantly being hit resulting in damage to the illuminated bollard. This is a very busy crossing point linking the town centre with Tesco and eastern Hertford. It is dangerous to cross, particularly for the elderly residents of Chauncy Court, because of the speed of traffic turning left at the mini-roundabout. Given the number of pedestrians crossing at this point surely there is justification for a Zebra or Pelican crossing on Railway St between Priory St and the mini roundabout. Hertfordshire Council must have spent more on constantly replacing the bollard than a new zebra would cost!
