Traffic lights causing congestion elsewhere.

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 09:54, Tue 12 November 2013

Sent to North Tyneside Borough Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 402539.

The traffic lights continue to cause congestion at times of the day when there never was congestion before, why are they not part time Traffic Lights? They also cause congestion at busy times at the Rotary Way / Gosforth Park Hotel roundabout. Because of queuing traffic along Rotary Way and up to the new traffic lights some vehicles decide to beat the queue on Rotary Way by driving down the middle of the road to the roundabout as if to turn Right but then they turn Left at the last minute and have to push other vehicles out of the way to get into the line of traffic, this is dangerous. Another tactic is to drive all the way around the roundabout to beat the queue, this blocks all paths around the roundabout so traffic coming from Sandy lane, Gosforth Park Hotel etc, can't move. I wonder if the Council planners envisaged this problem ! Maybe the New traffic lights are easing congestion on Sandy lane but they are causing it elsewhere. I suppose you could install traffic lights at the Rotary Way roundabout to counteract the problems caused by the Traffic lights at the Sandy Lane Roundabout....can you see where this is going !
