Silted up drain next to new ‘patch’ following Thames Water works

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain category anonymously at 08:29, Wed 7 December 2022

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4019847.

On east bound, uphill carriageway, adjacent to recent highways authority contractor’s repair ‘patch’ following major Thames Water repair works further up the hill, which was the cause of this silting up and this should have been cleared at time of these two respective repair works.....one wonders why was it not?

As per attached 06:30 Wednesday 7 December photos....

  • Please note a number of the other drain grills downhill from this one are also ‘silted up’.....

Can they all be checked and cleared please, especially given this is a busy main, arterial road?

Can you explain what ‘appropriate action’ has been taken apart from closing down this FMS report?

    This is NOT ACCEPTABLE......

  • STILL BLOCKED.....8 March: a month on from the ‘instruction’ THREE months since my original report.....

And I have had to REPEATEDLY advise in recent years that these drain grills on the busy A222 are blocked and/or the contractor FAILS to properly clear them.....

    This is TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY......

  • The gully grate has been reported by our drainage contractors as being stuck - it will have to be freed by the Highways contractors.

Once this is done, the gully will be cleaned.

I can still see mud in the ‘pot’......

  • The gully is in need of a structural alteration which will will be undertaken by the Highways Department. The gully will be cleaned once the work has been completed.

  • Thank you for your continued patience

We are aware that this report is still outstanding, and we are still liaising with colleagues in Highways to make their repairs so the drain can be cleansed .
