Thank you for your enquiry. I have visited site and observed the tree in its location. The tree appears to be in a reasonable condition on inspection with few defects observed, on this occasion no statutory works are appropriate on the tree as described in the enquiry. Individual landowners/householders are quite within their common law rights to cut back any overhanging vegetation to the point at which it crosses their boundary. The boundary is usually a feature such as a fence, wall or hedge. Landowners are allowed to cut this back as often as is required without seeking permission. Should the encroaching limb/s be significant in nature, we would very strongly suggest contacting the relevant local authority before carrying out any works.
