New pavement tree-pits between no9 and no19 Uplands

Reported via desktop in the Tree Planting Request category anonymously at 15:23, Wed 23 November 2022 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3987541.

An extensive length of Uplands from 9-19 has only one stunted/damaged pavement tree-pit, so the streetscape is very denuded compared with other streets all around Beckenham - see pictures. Obvious locations for new pits would be no11 and/or no13 and no17/19. Plus replace damaged tree at no15. (There's a council team opening new tree-pits in Village Way at the moment - add to their job list?)

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, it would not be possible to create new tree pits on Uplands because the underground services are in the way. The tree pits being opened on Village Way are actually existing tree pits that have been covered over.

  • Many thanks for your speedy response. Couple of queries: 1. Are you sure about the underground services problem - I know that there's been major electricity problems outside no9A (replacement segments) but not no11 and further up the street beyond? 2. Are you aware that two of the 'new' pits mentioned (no13 and no19) are really old covered-up pits as per Village Way, not new ones.
