Inappropriate end point of cycle path towards Oxford

The entry point for the cycle path from Iffley turn onto the Iffley road should cross the end of the side road and be in a straight line from the new path running north along Iffley turn. The newly created entry point at right angles to Henley Avenue/Iffley road is in fact sensibly and correctly not used by any cyclists travelling into Oxford All cyclists that I have observed mount the pavement at the point before the cycle path turns east, proceed along the footpath and across the side road directly onto Iffley road. The eastern end of the side road should be clearly marked as cycle priority and the cycle path should take the route that all cyclists actually use. Vehicles leaving the side road would still have a clear view of traffic descending Henley avenue from west of the correctly extended cycle path. Cycle paths that do not follow the obvious, safe and convenient route will not be used. It is futile to try to direct cyclists along a route that is obvious wrong. They will always choose to use their common sense as they do at this location. It should be made safer for them to do so by giving them clear priority over vehicles leaving and entering the side road.

You seem to be confused as to what the objective of this new arrangement is? It is only designed to frustrate car drivers and spend even more taxpayer's money. It is not designed to make anything better for anyone.
