Water pooling on highway in front of 50 and 51

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 19:04, Fri 21 October 2022

Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3905659.

I have been reporting concerns about highway flooding/water pooling along Hughenden Drive during heavy rainfall for the past two years. I am very concerned that if there is additional rain throughout the night the current 2 1/2" pooling could breach the kerb. It appears that the uneven road surface that has developed along Hughdenden Drive over recent years (together with the annual autumn leaf fall) is affecting drainage and is now creating large areas of rainfall pooling. Hughenden Drive is already situated within a flood risk area and therefore the apparent lack of adequate highway surface water drainage is now becoming an additional concern in terms of potential damage to property.

  • LCC officer telephoned today to discuss issue. No real progress as yet. I have agreed to let officer know the outcome of my home subsidence insurance claim investigations which could indicate that the highway is also affected by the roots of council owned trees thus resulting in the uneven surface and water pooling.
