Mechanic business being run from residential house

Reported via desktop anonymously at 23:47, Thu 20 October 2022

Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3903644.

At No. 12 on this street there is a mechanic using this front garden to run a business which causes cars in states of disrepair or in the process of being repaired with noise into the evening and blocking of the cut-de-sac for traffic visiting residents and then trying to turn their cars around to leave the street. The overspill of these cars that have been brought to the street for repair causes obstructions on the pavement and the road itself and a person should not be allowed to obstruct residential spaces to run a business form a residential home

Updates

  • As usual the council will not take a decisive action on this issue and instead create some reason why they cannot. In this case, despite being given evidence, which they themselves have corroborated with an independent witness, they claim that they cannot do anything until they witness it themselves. And the chances of them seeing the problem on the odd occasion when they happen to visit is small - in fact why even get corroborating witness evidence if they are not going to use that as the evidence to take action? Residents have to continue suffering noise and obstruction because our council create processes and reasons to not take action, rather than accept corroborating reports from independent sources to take action. As expected, our local authorities find ways to avoid taking action. I should not be surprised.
