Carrier drain runs down centre of pavement on East side of Cow Lane. Issue seems to be between the catchpit and the gully shown in the photo

Reported via desktop in the Flooding category anonymously at 10:55, Wed 12 October 2022 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheshire East Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3884594.

National Highways have cleared all gullies and catchpits; they have cleared/proven the carrier pipe under the new layby between the 2 catchpits. The surcharging gullies are all south of the southerly catchpit. Suggests the issue is between the southerly catchpit and the next gully (south) that was surcharging. This is an old carrier drain that carries all surface water from Ashley village to the carrier drain running west along side of M56. A few years ago, when we previously had this issue, Cheshire east discovered a partial collapse in this pipe - it was fixed and the issue stopped. The issue has started again. We have had to build a concrete barrier at the top of our driveway to stop the flooding to our property - this will cause flooding of cow lane during the next rain storm. It is a busy road on a dangerous bend. Traffic will swerve around the food and onto the opposite side of the road right on the bend. Please do not ignore this! The carrier drain can easily be survey from the catchpit - the issue will be within 20 metres of the catchpit.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting Cheshire East Highways. We have logged your enquiry and passed it to a member of our team.

Our teams are working hard to manage and respond to reports from members of the public.

We are currently experiencing an increase in demand of reported issues along with a temporary reduction in available staff due to Covid-related sickness and self-isolation.

During this time and until the situation improves, we will be prioritising those issues that present most risk to the travelling public. While we normally aim to provide you with a response within 20 working days, response times for all other reported issues may take longer than usual.

    Thank you for your patience.
