Violent undulations of road surface
Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:42, Tue 11 October 2022
Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3882594.
Lady Drove, Downham Market. Near the 40MPH speed limit signs at the A1122 end of Lady Drove.
NCC recently patched some seriously large potholes in this area, the work took a day.
Even though there was a three day road closure in place, nothing was done about the undulations at the same location.
It is very difficult to illustrate these defects in a photograph, but there are essentially three problem areas, one at each end of the patched section and another, which seems to be developing, along a part of its length.
The three day road closure order suggested that these defects were also to be repaired, but so far they remain an hazard.

Nothing has been done about this defect.
Please note that the defect was there long before the dry summer of 2022 and had been reported several times beforehand.

22 11 22. The area was under investigation today by two chaps from NCC Highways Laboratory. They have taken core samples to study the underlying structure. In discussion they agreed that the road is not up to the job of the number of HGVs that use it every day, and that this area needs a rebuild, but will probably not get it due to the cost. They are also aware that other parts of this road are slowly sliding into the ditches on each side. Sounds like a classic case of the guys in the real world being let down by pen-pushing, target driven managers and accountants!

The only change so far is that the road is getting worse by the week.
