Why has Melrose Road been resurfaced? it gets little traffic and compared with Main Road or Jewels Hill it wasn't in bad condition.

Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm that all maintained roads in the borough are inspected regularly for defects and we raise our planned works programme on condition and their prioritisation. Due to the type or road and it's use Main Road is classified as a borough principle road which means the council can request for funding from TFL for planned maintenance. We can confirm that the council has made a bid for funding with TFL for planned works along Main Road however we won't know the outcome on the submission for a couple of months, the council will continue to maintain the carriageway by when works meet intervention levels. Jewels Hill will be re-inspected shortly and jobs will be raised if they meet intervention levels.
