Dangerous parking

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 10:23, Mon 9 September 2013

Sent to Staffordshire County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 385697.

I have notices lately that " Blue badge holders" have been parking on the road outside the Burton Queens Hospital to avoid parking charges, and I understand that they can park virtually anywhere for a maximum of three hours. The problem with this arises when the drivers of the "badged " vehicles park dangerously on blind bends such as when Belvedere Rd meets Lower Outwoods on both sides of the bend on double yellow lines. This causes a great hazard to residents and visitors to the Lower Outwoods area. I have contacted ESDC but they have passed the buck and said its not their job to police parking. I am hopeing to get the issue resolved as soon as possible before someone is injured as winter on that bend is dangerous enough without haveing to negotiate badly parked vehicles. The problem is escallating every day with drivers avoiding the carpark fees Regards Bev Walker (Mr)

  • I contacted both Staffordshire police and ESBC and got extremely negative replies from both parties who said that each other were responsible...no action has been taken and the police said it is merely an inconvenience to drivers and ESBC are responsible and ESBC said the police were responsible...I have the e-mails...!!

  • The problem is now worse as Burton Queens Hospital have installed a "parking eye" system that reads number plates and charges for the time parked instead of and hourly figure...its caused mayhem. So people are avoiding parking at the hospital and using the surrounding roads to park. The police, East Staffs council nor Queens hospital want anything to do with the problem which is escallating to a dangerous level...lets see what 2014 brings . Happy New Year
