Multiple Cars Parking in Granby Street Cycle Lane

Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 22:47, Sat 27 August 2022

Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3785347.

I have 37 images of multiple cars parked in the Granby Street cycle lane taken over a one month period. Sadly the system you use restricts me to submitting just three.

One of the three photo's shows a man on an invalid carriage being forced onto the oncoming carriageway and another shows two cyclists in the distance being forced onto the oncoming carriageway.

The cycle lane is unusable for most of the time. It is unusual to see it free of parked cars.

It would be wonderful if you could find a solution to this problem and make the cycle lane useable again. For example, you could install an intermittent kerb and re-instate the bollards.

Thanks and all the best. Dr Neal Spowage

Updates

  • As of 31st Oct 2022 the issue still has not been fixed. The cycle lane is still very dangerous if you try to use it.

  • As of 26th November 2022 there has been partial improvements made by the council. Some bollards have been erected to mark the cycle lane, but there are still gaps that allow cars to enter and/or park in the cycle lane, and the solid white line that denotes it as a mandatory cycle lane is still completely worn away in places.
