Reported via desktop in the Tree Requires Pruning category anonymously at 15:38, Fri 26 August 2022 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later
There are a number of trees overhanging the road and path along Amherst Close that need cutting back. The trees a constantly dropping branches, some have fallen on cars damaging them. There is always leaves branches and now acorns along the road and path. The acorns are all over the path and are dangerous, my 76 year old mother has lost her footing due to the debris on the path. The overhanging branches are also hanging over the BT telephone and broadband lines

Just to let you know - some contractors came round on the 06/10/22. They said they were told to "remove the deadwood from the crown of the Oak and to sever the ivy" as instructed by London Borough of Sutton. All they did was cut down a couple of branches, basically made no difference and was a wasted visit. The issue is still there debris still falling from the trees, dangerous to walk on the path and for cars to park under.

Sweeping the path is not really appropriate action, the tree needs cutting back.

The works undertaken to this tree are consistent with the instructions to our contractor and relate to an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue, please note that works beyond that to reduce the tree size to allow more light, prune clear of telephone lines etc will not be taken as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (https://www.bromley.gov.uk/ downloads/ file/ 3334/ tree_management_strategy_2016-2020)

Thank you for your comments, further time has been allocated for a team to lift low canopies and remove any dead/damaged material which has been issued to the contractor for completion. I am sorry leaf/fruit fall is a part of a trees yearly cycle and an uncontrollable event. The matter has been reported to the street cleansing department to investigate and take appropriate action.

So "Appropriate action" basically means no action will be taken until the tree falls down. Thank for the link, it was very informative

This tree has been inspected and is not considered to require remedial works at this time. The situation will be reviewed cyclically and any required action will be addressed within a future works programme

So your saying "remove the deadwood from the crown of the Oak and to sever the ivy" as instructed by London Borough of Sutton is not needed. LBS were involved due to a claim for damages to a car that was parked under said tree, LBS admitted liability to the claim and instructed contractors to "remove the deadwood from the crown of the Oak and to sever the ivy" this is getting ridiculous and if this action in not taken I will have to escalate this to my local councillor. And by the way the picture you attached above dost include the tree in question.

If you need the claim reference from LBS please contact me directly. This is the email they sent me.
We have now concluded our investigation into your claim.
We would like to apologise and admit liability for the damage caused to the roof of your vehicle.
In order to settle your claim, please provide us with two estimates to repair the damage. Once we have received this information, we will review them and be back in contact to discuss settlement.
Please note that we will not accept betterment of the damaged items and may minus a percentage of the cost to reflect the wear and tear of the original property. If any materials are being reused, please ensure that this is noted on the estimate.
I can additionally confirm works to the tree in question have been raised to remove the deadwood from the crown of the Oak and to sever the ivy.
I look forward to hearing from you.

If you are not doing the work due to not having the budget you only have to say. If you can give the authorisation I will pay for a registered tree surgeon to "remove the deadwood from the crown of the Oak and to sever the ivy"
