Overhanging shrubs between Road and river

Reported via desktop anonymously at 21:09, Tue 23 August 2022

Sent to Leicestershire County Council and Melton Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3776240.

Shrubs are overhanging road and reducing width impacting on passing vehicles.

Also appears to be subsidence/slippage of road substrata toward river (behind shrubbery).

I assume the responsibility is with Highways under the riparian rules.

Updates

  • The invasive shrub, a type of ivy, is still in place - this will grow back into the road next spring.

The road still has subsidence as shown by the leaning posts/rails.

The cutback was not removed but deposited further up the bank - sloppy and probably not allowed by Environment Agency.

Furthermore, no update as to whether EA has been approached over the matter. I assume Highways has riparian rights to sort out the fundamental issues.
