RG27 9TA: Trees getting very high, need cutting down

Reported via desktop in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 10:49, Mon 22 August 2022

Sent to Hampshire County Council and Hart District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3771773.

Previously the trees along the path next to my house were quite small, but in the last few years they have become very tall, they drop a lot of mess on my property and I have to clear it up. Please can you cut the trees down, either to 10-12 feet, or get rid of them?

I asked the council people that came to trim the hedge on the path a few weeks ago, but they said a separate team needed to be contacted about trees. Thank you.

  • Hi The council responded to me about the issue I listed here, that the trees on the public path next to my house have got much taller in the last few years, since lockdown, than they've been in previous years, they are dropping a lot of litter now onto my property and I'm concerned that because of their height, they represent a storm risk to my property; we've lived here for about 15 years now. The council said that they do not cut or trim healthy trees, so they said they will be taking no action. I wrote back to the council to ask them if it was okay for me to arrange to have the worst tree reduced in size or removed. They wrote back and said no, I must not do that because it is not on my land. So I feel stuck! I'm really not sure what to do now to progress this matter. If any of you readers have experienced something similar, I'd be grateful. Thank you.
