Grasses area is an extreme fire hazard with this heat.

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 17:21, Thu 18 August 2022

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3764951.

The grasses area has not been cut for months. Yes, the ‘roundabout is being redone’ but this should not affect the state of the grasses area in Western away. It would only take a smaller mower or even someone with a strimmer to cut it back. I have already reported this to B&DBC but they’ve not even graced me with a reply. I am very worried as it only takes one inconsiderate person to flick a cigarette out their car window and it will catch fire immediately. It is very close to my fence too. That would inevitably catch fire if the grass does. It’s worrying me and my wife, who are pensioners, on a daily basis.

Updates

  • The council have not even bothered to reply to my previous email. With the heat now not so intense, it’s less of a fire risk but it’s still there and an absolute eyesore. I own my property and, although I understand the works currently happening on the Brighton Hill roundabout etc., I find that the council are not caring of the local residents at all.
