Lane markings for A120/B1256 leading to poor lane discipline on roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 18:49, Mon 15 August 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3756307.

There are two lanes approaching the roundabout from the M11, the right-hand lane being marked for the A120 West (services) and the left-hand one marked for the B1256. This then leads to an immediate exit from the roundabout to the B1256 and three lanes on the roundabout for the M11 (South), A120 West (+ services) and A120 West. However, the natural direction of the lanes leads to the B1256 lane being used, almost exclusively for the A120 on the roundabout. On many occasions, I have tried using the "correct" lane for the A120 services but find drivers using the lane for the B1256 invariably then head for the same A120 lane on the roundabout causing conflict. Because of this, I have also started using the B1256 lane, but on rare occasions drivers in the correct lane for the A120 services then cut in front of me to get into the correct lane. It would be more logical to mark the left lane for both B1256 and A120 West + services, and the right lane for the A120 West.
