Weeds in road gullies

Reported via desktop anonymously at 22:04, Fri 29 July 2022

Sent to Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3717326.

There has been no weed control or street cleaning all along the length of Walton Way, Mountsorrel this Spring/Summer. Terrible weeds and makes road look scruffy and derelict. Road needs sweeping to stop dirt build up where weeds are growing. At some places weeks are 1 foot high around the corners roads (especially Kenilworth Close) and 2 foot high along the pavement up against walls. This needs to be attended too as this will block water flow to drains when it finally rains. It looks disgraceful.

  • Hi, do you have any photos of the terrible weeds/lack of Street Cleansing?

Spraying of weeds is the responsibility of Leicestershire County Council Highways & the removal of weeds/road sweeping is the responsibility of Charnwood Borough Council Street Cleansing.

  • These are the weeds near Kenilworth Close off Walton Way. The dirt they have seeded in is quite thick. We have lived here for 22 years and never seen it like this. They are dying now, but the debris needs to be swept away so they don't reseed next Spring or stop the water flow into the drains.
