Council discrimination and selection re street cleaning

Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 14:53, Tue 19 July 2022

Sent to Enfield Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3687980.

Bourne Hill and Broadwalk at Winchmore Hill are busy roads, full of constant human and car traffic. Both roads have not been swept and cleaned of litter for nearly a month now. Bury street west and Wellington road road n Edmonton are cleaned every day by a man picking up each individual piece of litter. My complaint to the chief executive of Enfield council has been dismissed, with him suggesting that my asking for the service I pay my taxes for is wasting the council’s time. The inequality remains. I have stopped complaining about Hoppers road and clean it myself every day. Locally we clean Grovelands park. This needs to be investigated by a higher and morally transparent organisation. I dated all of the photos taken over the past year highlighting the glaring discrepancy.

Updates

  • I spoke to one of the street cleaners who explained that the council leave it up to them which streets to clean and they don’t have enough staff to clean every road. Yet every council member has had above fifty per cent pay increases this year.
