Odour and health risk from bags of rubbish in Cherwell Street
Reported via desktop in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 16:40, Fri 15 July 2022
Sent to Oxford City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3679612.
Please can you arrange for bags of rubbish left by tenants of 16 Cherwell Street to be cleared ASAP before they become an odour, vermin and health risk in the predicted record temperatures. This morning there are 6 or 7 purple rubbish bags and one clear recycling bag outside 16 Cherwell Street and the green wheelie that is permanently on the street is full. Some bags contain food waste. At least one bag has a visible rip. There is liquid seeping from at least two other bags which is already attracting wasps and bluebottles, and likely to attract rats and foxes if left much longer. Our next bin collection isn't for another 6 days on Thursday 21st (purple bag). Over the last year I have suggested to the tenants that they ask for the wheelie bin to be taken away, and reminded them which bag and which day they need to put out rubbish and recycling but they have quickly forgotten. This has been a recurring problem over the last year with these tenants but given the predicted record high temperatures over the next 4 days I hope that you can clear this particular rubbish quickly to avoid problems with odour, vermin and pavement blockage. I believe the tenants moved out yesterday, so fingers-crossed the problem won't recur with the next tenants.

Sat 16 July 12:50: please clear this mess. As feared, it looks like an animal did check the rubbish bags over night. I went out at 11:00 and took a pic. I have just returned and the recycling bag has toppled over, spilled its contents, blocking the pavement. I took another pic, both attached. Please can this be cleared urgently? Thank you
