Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 36341.
As residents of B&NES Council we have to pay some £218 per annum for the privilege of trying to park our cars somewhere in the vicinity of our home in Edward Street. However, motorcycles can park for free. As of last week, 3 motorcycles were parked in Edward Street (which is only a small street, unlike Great Pulteney Street) and were so badly parked and took up so much space that permit paying residents could not park their cars. One bike in particular has not moved for nearly 2 months! If motorcycles are going to take up residents' paid for parking spaces then their owners should pay for the facility, the same as car owners. Correspondence to date with local councillors (Cllr Gerrish and Cllr Gazzard) has yet to produce any response to this aggravating issue.

Dear FixMyStreet,
To update you, below is the reply from our Council - although we would not term the problem "fixed" as 2 motorcycles haven't moved yet!
"Dear mr and Mrs McLanhlan
The current policy for permits is set up in such a way that Motor Cycles park for free on street whether it be in pay an display bays or resident permit bays, in order to encourage this class of travel and reduce vehicle ownership, reduce congestion and improve air quality.
We do not have any plans to change this at present.
However I do occasionally write to residents associations to request that their members park considerately and will do so again RegardsDorothy Miley
