Litter - Fintray Road, Blackburn Play area

Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category by Derek Massie at 12:16, Tue 4 June 2013

Sent to Aberdeenshire Council 3 minutes later

I have just completed an hour or so picking up litter in this Park including most of a broken glass bottle near the middle of the football field no more than 2 metres from where a class of Primary school pupils were engaged in sports activity! (I alerted the teacher to the hazard). Having toured the park, including the tennis court I had filled my 70 litre compost sack and went to empty it in the bin at the nearby recycling centre. Surprise, surprise! - the bin was full to overflowing and two bags of rubbish were beside it. I was unable to complete my task and only covered one side of the tennis court. There remains a substantial amount of litter on the other side as well as a fair amount of dead leaves on the side i did cover. I noted that the two bins in the actual playing field were half full. On a recent meeting and site visit with a Council employee I was assured that a further litter bin would be placed at the recycling centre - this has not happened!

I intend to continue to use this medium to report cleansing/litter problems as I have 'lost faith' in the 'Wasteline' service.
