Litter problem - Burnside Park, Blackburn
Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 10:13, Tue 4 June 2013
Sent to Aberdeenshire Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 362312.
I have already reported this to 'Wasteline' but have little confidence in Aberdeenshire Council to respond timeously. I saw, last Tuesday , after picking up various pieces of litter in this park, that the ONLY litter bin in this park was full to overflowing. I was away from home for several days and returned to the park on Monday 3 June and, again after picking up several items of litter, found the only bin even more overflowing. I then made my report to Wasteline and 24 hours later after picking up 3 store-type carrier bags (found littering the park) was forced to leave these 3 bags , full of collected litter, by the over-flowing bin. I could have carried one of them to the next nearest bin but due to a knee injury , had to settle for second best and hope that the council respond to my complaint soon.

I noted this morning that the Council hasnot yet responded to this problem and the contents of the bags of rubbish left by me and others adjacent to the overflowing litter bin had now been dispersed over the surrounding area, possibly by birds or vermin.

As the Council has not responded within its 'Target Time' of 72 hours, I have attended, sat some discomfort, and removed the overflowing rubbish myself and deposited the unrecyclable part of it in the bin at the top of the lane to the park off Kirkhill View and THIS bin too is now nearly full!

I still find the Aberdeenshire Council's response to the general litter problem to be inadequate. Whilst sympathising a little with manpower problems, I think that there is an inadequacy of litter bins in public parks and play areas(and indeed in busy public streets) and the frequency of emptying the existing bins is insufficient.
