Vegetation obscuring sightline at junction risking safety of pedestrians
Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 21:04, Fri 10 June 2022
Sent to Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3587186.
When walking off the the end of the footpath on Main Road to walk up Woodway Lane pedestrians' view of vehicles and bicycles approaching the junction from Woodway Lane is completely obscured by overhanging vegetation. In these circumstances there is no possibility of eye contact between drivers / riders and pedestrians until the last second. Some vehicles approach the junction from Woodway Lane at speed (the 30 mph speed limit only starts a few yards from the junction) and ones intending to turn left on to Main Road (towards the school) tend to keep well over to the left close to the side of the road, and often are not looking (because they are looking right for traffic coming up Main Road) thus risking pedestrians at the side of the Woodway Lane. One speed limit sign is obscured by overhanging vegetation.

The overhanging trees and brambles obscuring the views of/for pedestrians have not been trimmed back yet.

Nothing has yet been done to solve the problem of overhanging trees & bushes. They've mown the grass verges on the other side of the road, but that doesn't solve this problem.
