No turn right cycle lane

Reported via desktop in the Highway Schemes category anonymously at 16:31, Thu 2 June 2022

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3568618.

Access to the just completed new cycle lane on Iffley turn requires a turn right cycle lane to be provided on the Iffley road heading south. At present there is no safe place for cyclists heading south to stop for a break in the queue of traffic heading north into Oxford.

Council ref: ENQ22926147

  • Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that it does not currently meet the criteria for intervention, as this is busy road, it would not be suitable to implement a stop junction in the middle of the road, for cyclist. As would put cyclist in danger, from being hit by oncoming traffic coming the other way. Under the highway code Rule 73 junctions

(At junctions with no separate cyclist facilities, it is recommended that you proceed as if you were driving a motor vehicle (see Rules 170 to 190).

Position yourself in the centre of your chosen lane, where you feel able to do this safely, to make yourself as visible as possible and to avoid being overtaken where this would be dangerous.)

    State changed to: Investigation complete
