VWHDC have been informed that there are issues with parking and verge damage in Sycamore Road. 1. Grass verges along the road are being damaged and are become a health and safety issue owing to being a trip hazaard. 2. Parking in the street is causing problems for utility and emergency vehicles. 3. Overhanging of hedges is limiting the use of the pavements.
2. Parking in the street is causing problems for utility and emergency vehicles - Sycamore Road is in a residential area and it is the local residents that are causing the problem. Yellow lines (which involve long and expensive legal procedures, advertising, and consultation as well as the cost of the lines themselves) are not generally provided in these situations. Vehicles parked in Sycamore Road and causing an ‘actual’ obstruction should be reported to Thames Valley Police as this is an offence that they can & should enforce. The Emergency Services have not raised any concerns with OCC (the Highway Authority) in relation to accessing Sycamore Road.
