Traffic lights freezing on red most mornings

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 18:26, Thu 7 April 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3444934.

The traffic lights on the portway going under the M5 bridge are sticking on red most mornings when I drive down the portway towards the roundabout. This has lasted for upto 15 minutes on some occasions causing very long tailbacks. This leads to vehicles having to go through on red. Once a few vehicles have gone through the lights sometimes change but often will continue to be stuck on red. The sensor sensing the presence of vehicles seems to be broken. I've only observed the issue happening between 0825-0845 on a weekday morning so don't know whether it's happening at other points during the day. Issue has been present for over a year but has been getting worse in the last month or so.
