White markings on speed bumps
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 07:44, Thu 4 April 2013
Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later
The white markings intended to show the speed bumps clearly are so very faded now that they don't provide any help with seeing the speed bumps. In poor light conditions (dark, wet, glaring oncoming headlights) it is practically impossible to see the markings. An additional problem is that the markings were only originally on the left side of the bumps so if someone is parked and obstructing the view you only have one marking to spot.

I had no response to the report - other reports to other authorities have been speedily acknowledged and I've been kept advised of plans for action etc.
However action has been taken. Some days later the road was resurfaced which I'm sure was planned rather than in reaction to the report! Although I've not been down this road recently, I have been reliably informed that the white markings have recently been replaced and are now on both sides of the road.

My informant was not reliable! Yes the markings are repainted and as they should be. But no they aren't on both sides of the road so the problem continues that with parked cars obscuring the white triangles it is still possible to be caught by surprise by the bumps.
