Street Lighting
Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 19:42, Sun 31 March 2013
Sent to West Sussex County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 342652.
Before our street lights were replaced a few strategically placed street lights in the street stayed on for security reasons. Since the new lights have been in place there are no lights in devonshire road that stay on during the evening and resients if this can be changed.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the lighting changes in Devonshire Road in Bognor.
West Sussex County Council policy is to light residential roads to a part night lighting regime. This requires the lights to come on at dusk until midnight and then come on again at 5.30 am until dawn, being turned off at the quietest part of the night. Generally only main traffic routes are now lit throughout the hours of darkness. As stated, this is a West Sussex County Council policy and not something we are able to dictate on their behalf.
Exceptions to the part night policy and requests to leave street lights on all night will only be considered if there is a local social problem which involves the police and is intended as a part of a crime detection or surveillance project, however this is a matter that would need to be taken up with your local councillor should you feel this is a problem and see if they may be able to discuss the policy with WSCC on your behalf.
Sorry that we are unable to help further with your query.
