Lack of parking prohibution

Reported in the Car parking category by Rodney Dean DSA ADI (car) at 18:40, Wed 27 March 2013 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council 4 minutes later

I have previously made Chinnor District Council aware of my concerns but have apparently been ignored. I am a driving instructor and am very concerned that parking is permitted on the bend in Estover Way. Traffic approaching from the Estover/Oakley Lane roundabout direction (Northbound) have absolutely no sight of oncoming traffic (who have priority) until they are already committed. This is exacerbated by the fact that oncoming traffic (Southbound) have a cycle lane to stay out of, and frequently cannot move over to the left to accommodate Northbound traffic. I use this read all the time and am appalled at the lack of thought of people when parking their vehicles (often large lorry's) in this area, so it cannot be left to peoples good judgement. I have attached a photograph showing a near head on collision (these happen all the time). Please do something soon, because I guarantee that someone is going to get killed here.

  • OCC highways have no interest in this matter until a fatality has occurred here and then still probably not! this must be the most dangerous parking situation in Chinnor, last night there was a very large blue articulated lorry parked there plus numerous other large commercial vehicles, traffic coming from the roundabout direction have no intention of giving way even though they don't have priority, turning into Hedgerley is a game of chance with your life and others.
