Large and rapidly deteriorating potholes

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 12:20, Mon 25 March 2013

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

The temporary fix put in place a week ago has now got very much worse. The root cause is water flowing off the fields. This creates slippery conditions (sometimes icy) a few yards before the damaged section. Cars then brake after the slippery bit, thereby causing increased strees forces on the road surface. A comprehensive repair is needed - just dumping more tarmac and rolling it is not a repair.

  • Further patching has taken place but it has still left a very uneven surface, only preserved because the weather has been drier. Far less severe damage on the a602 entry to Stevenage has been totally resurfaced.
