Shop owner keeps blocking our front door

Reported via desktop in the Car parking category anonymously at 19:56, Mon 14 March 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3388286.

The shop next door to us uses this car for deliveries and business. They routinely park in front of our door, blocking access or focusing us to squeeze past. Today, we had less than a foot of space to walk in and out of our flat. This door is our only fire escape. This issue has been present for a year now.

Updates

  • This stretch of Gloucester Road pavement does seem to be considered as private parking for various shop owners. I feel sorry for people having their front doors blocked and those with prams and mobility scooters trying to use the pavement. If you arent allowed to cycle on the pavement, why is it ok to drive onto it?

  • Please report this motorist to the police. Call 101. Yesterday I drove past and saw the same vehicle that had been illegally driven on the pavement and was causing a dangerous obstruction.

  • TBH - many drivers (shopkeepers mainly) seem to consider the Gloucester Road pavements fair game for parking. Not just with 2 wheels on, but the whole vehicle (which means they must have driven along the pavement to get there). That's not allowed on a bike, definitely shouldnt be allowed in a car.
