Dangerous pedestrian access

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 19:34, Mon 14 March 2022

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3388219.

The road over the rail bridge at Down End Road is extremely dangerous for pedestrians. There is little to no footpath. The road at the bridge itself is really narrow and not wide enough for two vehicles to safely pass. If a pedestrian is also walking across the bridge it is lethal. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to press myself against the bridge wall to avoid being hit when cars zoom by. There is no escape for pedestrians and judging by the number of wing mirrors on the ground there are clearly lots of accidents. The bridge should be made one car at a time with priority arrows, and or traffic lights and this would allow room for a safe pavement for pedestrians.
