Traffic light sequencing

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 10:37, Thursday 3 March 2022

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later

When leaving the M40 from the north the traffic light sequence has changed and only a few vehicles can join the A34 at a time causing queues on the M40 and not just at busy times. This used to be a problem years ago but had been improved by the sequnce of the lights which now seems to have reverted to a previous setting. The slip road is on a hill and lorries are slow to get going meaning that more time is needed. ALSO there used to be a designated lane to leave the A34 to go north on the M40 but now all traffic has to stop at the lights. This is now causing more queues which means the light need to be set to go for longer. These extra seconds need to be transferred to the other lights decribed above and the lane changed back to free flowing onto the M40. This also gives more spacing for vehicles joing the M40.
