Parking in George St and Gospelgate, Louth.

Reported via desktop anonymously at 16:54, Mon 28 February 2022

Sent to East Lindsey District Council less than a minute later

Some five years ago over 90% of residents in George St and Gospelgate, Louth, submitted a comprehensively researched request for residents parking in these streets. Many homes are terraced dwellings with no garages and at least 50% of residents are elderly. Because we are a few minutes walk from the town centre, many people working in Louth park in our streets rather than pay a parking fee. We got a few vaguely-worded responses from ELDC with no commitments. Then we learned that the council had somehow misplaced or lost the research material we had submitted. In spite of several more attempts to get any reply from either ELDC or Lincoln City Council we still have not had the courtesy of a constructive response. Meantime the parking situation in these streets continues to worsen. We seek urgent action.

Updates

  • Since I submitted a fortnight ago Lincolnshire County Council has begun removing parking spaces in Louth town centre under the Active a travel Scheme. This is a backward step that will exacerbate the acute and ongoing parking problems in our nearby residential streets.
