Dangerous trench on Kings Hedges Road
Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 16:49, Fri 8 March 2013
Sent to Cambridgeshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 331508.
A linear trench was dug at some point in the past and the surface badly restored afterwards. Edges are up to 3-5cm tall and will easily topple a cyclist.
I'm aware that at least one person has been injured by this, suffering a broken arm.
The trench runs for quite a distance on the north side of the road between Northfields Ave and the Cambridge Regional College / Busway / Science Park back entrance junction. It's about 30-40cm wide and 1m from the north side kerb.

I've now been made aware of another person who suffered in injury crash here, injuring their knee badly enough they couldn't cycle for several weeks.

I have just cycled this route and was rendered completely unstable as I attempted to get my cycle wheels out of the trench; fortunately I was eventually thrown onto the verge rather than into the fast-moving traffic. Douglas de Lacey, 10. 5. 2013

I rode my car over the route and found it was quite reasonable. I think that we should get our priorities right in street repairs when funds are short.

I have received this from the County: `The area has been inspected and a works order will be raised to carry out carriageway patching between Buchan St and St Kilda Ave'.
