Illegal use of electric scooters

Reported via iOS anonymously at 21:20, Tue 8 February 2022

Sent to Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3299123.

On Thursday 20th. January 2022 on attending a mid-day appointment in Church Gate Loughborough I noticed no less than four electric scooters at different times over a two hour period being ridden in and around the pedestrianised areas of Church Gate and the Market area. They were all being ridden by men in their twenties. These vehicles are illegal for use on the public highway and are normally confiscated if seen by the police. During a second visit to Church Gate on the 4th of February 2022 I encountered three more electric scooters being ridden in the Church Gate / Market area, in a two hour period from mid-day by adult men. One in particular comes to mind when he rode along Church Gate at speed shouting ‘DING DING Coming through’ several times causing pedestrians to move out of the way. Someone will be injured soon if the illegal use of these vehicles is not curtailed.
