Extremely uneven road surface on Cartwright Drive

Reported via mobile in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 19:14, Mon 31 January 2022

Sent to Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3280404.

This problem has been present for a number of years to a lesser degree, but the numerous roadworks and increased HGV activity is now making the road surface much worse. From just south of Abbey Meadows Car park turn off to just adjacent to Stephenson Road, there are a series of perpendicular ridges and troughs running across both sides of the road. These are pronounced enough to cause bottoming out of car suspension at the posted speed limit. I have noted a number of vehicles now straying into the hatched line area to avoid possible suspension damage. This type of road surface could easily cause damage/loss of vehicle control especially where motorcycles are concerned.

Updates

  • I have been told by Hampshire County Council that this road is "earmarked" for repair. No timescale given..........
