Zebra crossing not clear enough
Reported via desktop anonymously at 09:21, Mon 31 January 2022
Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3278289.
The zebra crossing on Rye Street closest to the town centre is often ignored. Cars often drive too fast and fail to stop. It is in a bad state of repair with faded paint and lights, I have seen no maintenance work on the crossing for the two years that I have lived in the area. It is not immediately obvious that many drivers have to stop suggesting signs are not prominent enough. A raised crossing could help slow traffic and increase awareness.
