Sent to Leicestershire County Council and North West Leicestershire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3247861.
Without notice to neighbouring properties, the property in which this tree resides (1 Victoria Road), has begun felling this majestic tree today, hindering us from making this plight sooner. It provides a safe space for nesting birds throughout the year. It has been a bird haven for at least the past two decades. It also provides a great deal of privacy to neighbouring properties - we are predominantly a group of streets with terraced properties and young families with small children. This tree provides much needed cover during summer months. It is also an extremely old tree and I would guess that it was planted when these houses were built around the turn of the 1900's. It would be a great loss to the community to lose such a wonderful tree which benefits so many properties and wildlife in so many ways.

The North West Leicestershire District Council does not deal with urgent requests for Tree Preservation Orders in a timely manner. It took them a week to follow up on my email marked "Urgent", by which time this tree and the nests within it, were destroyed, robbing birds of their safe haven in Spring when they nest here in abundance!
