Obstruction of pavement

Reported via mobile in the Benches / bicycle racks category anonymously at 22:18, Friday 14 January 2022 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxford City Council less than a minute later

Is the angle of the bike racks such that bikes which are not properly secured and fall block the pavement or create a hazard for pedestrians? Photo attached showing recent hazards. Visually impaired or elderly have many factors to consider in this stretch in addition to bikes lying on the pavement. Furniture from shops, signs, large planters all causing a more difficult and risky experience for pedestrians with huge amounts of traffic. People regularly use the road to avoid the blocked/semi blocked pavement.

Updates

  • Good morning. These bikes racks have been installed leaving the correct width of footway. Unfortunately we cannot account for user error of these racks causing obstructions. Any abandoned bikes can be reported, and will be removed (if they are abandoned).
