Pavement, zebra crossing and pavement needed

Reported via desktop in the Parks/landscapes category anonymously at 11:09, Tue 28 December 2021

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3201007.

A Pavement, zebra crossing and pavement is needed on Wantage road (approximately opposite number 162) where there is a muddy opening leading to the newly built houses area / large parc. The parc footpath ends before the road and so it is a mud mire at most times of the year. The footpath needs to be extended so that it connects with the road and also it would be wonderful if there was a Zebra crossing to the road at this point. It a popular parc and people cannot cross the road safely as there is no proper crossing area. Also we need a pavement from this parc opening, alongside the road, on the same side, leading to Barleyfields. At present it is a dangerously slippy muddy track.

Updates

  • Installation of a zebra crossing would be the responsibility of the highway authority, Oxfordshire County Council, who can be contacted on highway.enquiries@oxfordshire.gov.uk

The open space (parc) to the south of Wantage road is still the responsibility of the developer of the new estate, probably Taylor Wimpey, so you would need to contact them about an extension of the footpath. I'm afraid I don't have their contact address

  • Sorry I have not been clear, A pavement is needed alongside the road, that is not within the boundaries of the open space (parc). You have to walk along this muddy roadside verge to reach the parc.
