4m high hedge

Reported via desktop anonymously at 15:06, Wed 1 December 2021

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This hedge is on the edge of a bungalow we own at OX16 9PG, no 48 Mewburn Road, Banbury. In our deeds to the property it says that Oxfordshire County Council are responsible for cutting this hedge yearly. We have owned the bungalow 3 years and the height of the hedge is getting out of control. My husband is 6ft 1ins, so you can see how high it is. it is pushing our fence. I wrote to Oxfordshire County Council and they told me to contact you.

  • Thank you for your report. Highways do not maintain hedges, they are a boundary feature of which the adjacent landowner is responsible for the maintenance of. We have checked our Highway records (turning to side of property at number 48) and unfortunately, the location/cul de sac that you are referring to, is not publicly maintained Highway, for which we are responsible for the maintenance of, therefore, we are not permitted to address any issues in this location or conduct any works.
